so full of fantasy and awe!Within the VR-headset, the player is surrounded by calming forests and oceanscapes, sounds of nature, and classical music. The player can also perform yoga and physiotherapy exercises with a personal, virtual trainer.
By orienteering with a map in a 3D environment, the player can practice and develop their cognition. The exercises and movements have been designed by professional yoga instructors and physiotherapists that work with rehabilitation.

Virtual Rehab has been further developed from a prototype called “Virtual Recovery”. The basic idea and prototype were developed in a collaborative project between VR designer Åsa Egnér, Kreativitetsbankenand Dr Theis Madsen, CopenReality ApS.
The prototype was funded by Cross4Health. MENUIn the game’s menu the player can chooseoptions for language, environment, exercises, standing or sitting, and easy or more advanced difficulty.
Easy difficulty excludesmovements above shoulder height. EXPLORATION:Yoga, PhysiotherapyThe player can explore visual and calmingworlds at their own pace, either by sittingor standing.
By using the controller, theplayer moves through ocean- and forestenvironments, and makes their way to eithera yoga- or physio-therapy exercise withdifferent difficulty levels. 3D OrienteeringVR enables a unique opportunity to train 3Dorienteering via a map.
This may develop thecoordination between mind and body, sincethe player learns to navigate to differenttargets. Yoga och PhysiotherapyThrough paintings, the player enters eitheran oceanscape or a redwood forest.
They arethen automatically transported to a previously chosen yoga- or physiotherapy session. RewardsBesides relaxation, exploration, and exercise, the player is rewarded with for instance growing flowers and trees, northern lights, andwater drops.
These rewards and the beautifulenvironments and sounds can create awe andmotivate the player to return to the game andthe exercise. Personal TrainerThe player exercises with other 3D-characters, which simulates a group session with avirtual instructor.
ResearchThere are many scientific reports about theadvantages of VR. In virtual reality, the brainis ”tricked” into believing that it is in a newlocation.
VR distracts from pain, and canrelieve stress and anxiety. TechnologyAll characters in the game are created throughmotion capture technology in co-operationwith the university of Lund’s Humlabb.
To play Virtual Rehab, you need: a VR headset with the associatedcontroller for Oculus rift or HTC Vive. a copy of the game which will be available on digital platforms such as Steam.

Explore nature, and water the environment with dew drops along the way. Training: the instructor begins theexercise when the player enters thering of stones.

After the training session: hitdewdrops with the front trigger, so that trees grow. Orienteering forest Press and release the thumbstick tomove forward, choose directions withthe pointer.
Orienteering: open the map with thefront trigger and navigate toward thegoal. At the goal, move potential rocks withthe side button, aim at the dewdrop.
3 orienteering goals appear on themap per round. Physiotherapy, single In the menu, choose options forstanding, sitting, and easy oradvanced difficulty.
Travel through a painting to theexercise. Aim at the dewdrops with the fronttrigger after a finished session ofphysiotherapy.
Enjoy growing trees and a beautifulnight sky that finishes the session. OCEAN – explore, yoga Press, and release, the thumbstick tomove forward, aim with the pointer.
Walk around in nature, watch flowersand water the environment withdewdrops. Yoga: when the player enters the ringof stones, the instructor begins theexercise.
Imitate the instructor’s movements. Put down the hand controller.
The flowers grow during the yogamovements. 4 different exerciselocations.
Orienteering ocean Press and release the thumbstick tomove forward, aim with the pointer. Orienteering: open the map with thefront trigger and navigate towardthe goal.
At the goal, move rocks with the sidebutton, aim at dewdrops so thatflowers grow. On the map a new goal appears whichthe player can find, three goals perround.
Yoga, separate In the menu, choose standing, sitting, easy or advanced difficulty. Travel through a painting to the yogaexercise.
The controller can be excluded. Imitate the instructor’s movements.
